Just The FACTS - Hand Protection
(click above to download the PDF of our catalog page)

One, The LawThe LAW
OSHA 1910.138 is a very general standard that requires a Hazard Assessment to determine the appropriate hand protection when exposed to chemicals, cuts and lacerations, abrasions, punctures, burns and temperature extremes. Hazard Assessment forms are available in the Safety Tech Talk at Conney.com.

Two, The EssentialsThe ESSENTIALS
We’ve broken down the Hand Protection selection process into four simple categories. The first thing you need to think about is your particular Work Situation. Once you’ve made that decision, you can narrow your choices by selecting from the final three categories of Durability, Comfort and Productivity/Safety.

Work Situation
Your choice of Hand Protection is largely influenced by workplace application. We feature gloves that offer:

  • Cut Resistance
  • Heat Resistance
  • Abrasion Resistance
  • Puncture Resistance
  • Chemical Resistance
  • Anti-Vibration Protection
  • Electrical Protection
  • Food Handling Protection
  • Biohazard and Medical Protection
  • General Purpose Protection

Durability
The most important factors to watch for when evaluating the durability of a glove include:

  • Quality and Type of Material
  • Thickness
  • Coating
  • Thumb Style

Comfort
When a Glove is uncomfortable, workers will stop wearing it. Make sure every worker gets the fit and feel they want by reviewing:

  • Cuff Style
  • Thumb Style
  • Glove and Lining Material
  • Fit
  • Breathability
  • Sweat Absorption

Productivity/Safety
A productive and safe Glove is one that lets your workers do their jobs. Watch for:

  • Grip Pattern
  • Coating
  • Dexterity
  • Cuff Style
CLOSE-UP on CUFF and THUMB STYLE
